Today was the gay pride day up here in Edmonton. which means that everyone puts on their Sunday best and ventures downtown to pay outrageous amounts of money or warm beer and watch everyone get their train wreck on. there's also a large amount of ex dodging and running into those people I like to call the yearly friends. you know them, you love them, but you really only see them once a year. at pride.
anyways. this year I had more fun than I've ever had at pride, but it was fairly short lived. and most of it was spent waiting in line for the beer tents. for those of you who don't follow my facebook - here, for your amusement, at the updates I made from the beginning to end of the day.
ahem
How to tell its gay pride day - I'm drinking captain before noon and straightening my hair. Happy pride queers!
I'm stuck in the line for the beer tents at pride. I will now commence
'thoughts from the line' to help entertain me. Possible pictures as
well.
thoughts from the line #1 - if you lined up the short brimmed hats that are up in this line they'd stretch from here Vancouver.
Thoughts from the line #2. If you lined up the short shorts up in this line, they would stretch from here to..just over there
Thoughts from the line #3. haggard lesbian asks her haggard friend 'did
you go out last night?' Haggard #1 replies 'yea I got punched in the
face by my ex' and they commence high fiving.
Thoughts from the line #4. Bobbi brought me booze. Gays are more
tolerable when booze is involve. I'll commence high fiving myself. Also
known as a clap
Thoughts from the line #5. Without booze or shelter, I may perish. Don't let me die amongst the line
Thoughts from the line #6. It feels like years since I've gazed upon a familiar face. I miss my life outside the line
Thoughts from the line #6. I can't tell if the person in front of me is a
guy or a girl. And therefore can't determine if I should or shouldn't
be attracted to them. Will keep you posted.
Thoughts from the line #7. I'm out of booze. I'm paying I survive the final turn. I can see the toilets. I'm close.
Thoughts from the line #8..I should have considered sensible sluts. That
should say shoes, but I feel as though sensible sluts should be
considered to
Thoughts from the line #9. sorry for the delay but I just learned how to
say something in Chinese. And had conversation with the GIRL in front
of me. Attraction justified. score.
Thoughts from the line #10. No booze. No sun. No corner rounding.
Considering my options. Do I part ways with this cruel line? No. I'm
committed.
Thoughts from the line #11. I'M AROUND THE CORNER
Thoughts from the line #12. Overheard in the line 'you know what I love
most about pride? free condoms.' Said by a lady in a rainbow dress.
Confusion sets in.
Thoughts from the line #13. Around the corner is like a new world.
There's joy. And smiles. There's hope. And a chance to sit down.
Sensible sluts be dammed!
Thoughts from the line #14. Bobbi is Jesus. She's obtaining me more booze. The balance has been restored
Thoughts from the line #15. I've reached the apex of my journey. I can SEE the end of the line..success is only steps away
Thoughts from the line #16. Gay people are pushy in heards.
Thoughts from the line #17. I see those behind me and feel their pain.
You too will soon cross the corner and feel the beauty that is nearing
the end. Patience my little gays. Patience.
Thoughts from the line #17. SOOO CLOSE
Final thought from the line. I'm in! Sweet victory!
upon my triumphant entrance into the beer tents, I immediately start hugging my friends as if I've never seen them before. then dish out epic two handed high fives and promptly sit down for an afternoon of gawking and shameless flirting.
within two minutes of me entering I get a tug on my sleeve from Bobbi saying PANTS LOOK! you have groupies!
I follow her gaze and low and behold. two girls are wearing shirts with my name on it. you'd think this would be awkward, or somehow unheard of. but. I've come to expect only a few things from edmonton pride. 1 - long line ups and 2 - never doubt random girls wearing your name on their shirts.
turns out I don't even know these girls. and for whatever reason they just like to walk around with my name on their shirts. oh well. as long as I'm not paying child support.
Hey Pants, I have nominated you for Leibster blog award - congrats!
