the nature of the my business means I sacrifice my summer. 6 days a week, unlimited over time. if legally allowed, I'd be there even more.
I've taken one, two, thirty six steps forward in my career advancement. owning this life has been a breeze. but then I blink, and the season is over without much regard for my need to press my toes into some sand and remember what the sun feels like.
I still sleep with the window open, but the mornings are chilly. and even my bitten kitten prefers to nuzzle into us to avoid the crisp haze that 5am has turned into.
where did it go? these long drawn days. the months passing by.
the trade off is mexico in november. and east for the majority of december.
the trade off is learning how sacrifice generally lends its hand to just that - trade off.
but I still can't help but wish for more lazy days spent reading in the sun.
my books are in boxes I've yet to unpack since moving to the new place. I'm an avid collector of these silly things. but there really is something to be said about the weight of a good book in your lap.
I killed half of orange is the new black today. which has been a far too easy read for what the content of the tv show suggests. I'll finish it out of spite now, but I'll be hard pressed to recommend it to anyone hoping for some smut, or to even remotely follow the same story line. I suppose it's good for what it is. a memoir. a life in paperback.
