Pants Vs. Pants

Hannah Hart made a music video about noms (which can be viewed here)
the guy in the video is wearing a shirt with just the word "Pants" on it.
I actually don't like the song, or the video very much. aside from when he says "Keylime" and she's all "PPIIIEEEEE" that's amusing.
I've been finding more and more people are using the term "Pants" more often. I'm not sure if this is due to the fact that the British have become much more socially accepted since those beatle boys with their long hair and tight slacks blasted onto the scene...you know...in the 60's.
but the term "Pants" has always been a negative. More often than not, it's been a substitute for the word SHIT.
if you ask anyone in edmonton or the surrounding western provinces (HI WESTCOAST FRIENDS!) they will tell you that my real name, is never used in any sort of conversation in relation to me. I actually have friends who still don't know/remember what my real name is. I've always been, and always will be known as Pants.
here in Ottawa, it's been a lot harder trying to get my friends on board with calling me by my chosen nickname. most people refer to me by my real name. this I can't totally blame them for, because with the exception of 2 people, all of my friends in Ottawa I work with. and at work I go by my real name. though recently I've managed to slip Pants in as a substitute on some of the work related forms, which makes me happy.
A part of me gets REALLY annoyed when I'm introduced to my friends friends as "real name" and I immediately correct them and say My name is Pants. if people question as to why my name is Pants, I usually bust out the tattoo or just say it sounds a lot cooler than "real name". regardless of how the name came to be, I find is kind of disrespectful when people introduce me by a name that I chose not to go by. I've often heard people say "it sounds silly so I won't refer to you as that". which also annoys me. it's not about how you feel ya selfish turdburglers! it's what *I'M* comfortable with, and what I'm not comfortable with. I also find that this argument falls on deaf ears and I'm still, constantly, correcting people when they introduce me.

sometimes I do get people who are geniunely curious as to why my name is Pants. it dates back at least 10 years now. I can't recall exactly WHO or HOW it came about, because there are 3 or 4 stories floating around that all hold some truth. so I can't honestly tell you how it started.
but I CAN tell you that the reason why I got the tattoo was in part because of the nickname, and in part because of Mr. Niel Diamond. and the beautiful song "Forever In Bluejeans".
cause now I'm, forever in bluejeans.

in case you've missed seeing it, here's a picture of the beast in all it's glory. everyday I see it, and every day I love it more and more.

thought of the day - Day 3 of being completely off of sleeping meds has found me entirely awake for the last 39 hours. this is not an appropriate time to bake ANYTHING. you will forget about it. and you will spend the rest of your day trying to get the smell of burning baked goods out of your nose. unpleasant.
