Pants Vs. Technology

there is a very real possibility that sometime today I will have to buy a new phone.
this is something I've actually had in the back of my mind for the last few months.
1 - because my contract is running it's course at the end of January. I've been with Telus since I was 16. yes. almost 13 years. I LOVE TELUS.
2 - because my phone has recently decided that it doesn't like to charge. the battery is 5 months old. the charger is brand new. the phone is just on it's last legs.
I've had my blackberry for nare three years now. (hence the contract being up) and I've never had any issues with it aside from an exploding battery. and that one time I dropped it in a puddle. but it was zombie-fied via the helpfullness of RICE. yes. RICE. did you know that if you get water damage to your phone - ie drop it in the toiler or in a PUDDLE, you can simple put the whole thing in rice for two days and BOOM. MIRACLE ON 89TH STREET! (...I live on 89th street.)
but the device itself - no complaints. in fact, I love my phone. I would marry my phone if it were legal. I would have little blackberry Pants babies with it and live happily ever after. if it weren't about to get thrown against a wall in an ill fated domestic abuse case. sigh. YOU'RE MAKING ME HIT YOU BLACKBERRY!? SEE WHAT YOU DID? I'M DOING THIS BECAUSE I LOVE YOU. *SLAP*
anyways.

I've reviewed my options for upgrade on the telus website. and I can get the new torch for 50 bucks. OR the samsung galaxy 2 for 100. WITH A FREE CAMERA!!
I already have a camera. and the free one they're giving away is kind of balls. but it's FREE. FREE SHIT IS AWESOME.
nowhere in there do they offer me a device discount on an iphone - which I'm pretty thankful for. the temptation of an iphone is out there. do I know WHY I'm tempted to get an iphone? NO. NO IDEA. Mass marketing? consumer brainwashing? something along those lines. but in the end I've done a lot of research on the three options (ie torch, glaxay 2, iphone) and the least amount of complaints and software issues come from the galaxy. plus it's an android. which is way cooler than any i-app BS.

so it's a toss up now between my loyalty to blackberry, and the cool new kid on the block.
I've had a blackberry for 5 years. I know blackberries. I know their OS systems and their quirks. I know how to run my blog/email/bluetooth from it. I have blackberry Messenger fullllll of contacts who I can chat with. FOR FREE. UNLIMITED! FREE!!! remember how much I like free shit??!
I can get pictures on their. FOR FREE. and talk to my mumsy for 10 hours a day. FOR FREE.
and I can stalk my friends and KNOW when they've read my messages and are ignoring me. FOR FREE.
I'm also very adept in using the blackberry's halftouch keyboard. which I like. and it's custom dictionary let's me write awesome things. like anal dusting. and awwwwrape.
however, the torch has a full keyboard. in a smaller space than my current phone (ie if I turn my keyboard into a full qwerty keyboard instead of the halftouch the buttons are still bigger than on the torch) and I have fat manhands. so this would be a hindrance.


but the galaxy is pretty. and has these NEW things. it's a bit more pricey. and I've yet to actually play around with either phone that much. and I'm sure someone at telus will let me fuck around with them before deciding. I'm just really torn.

anyone have any insight? I'm posing this question to facebook as well.


also - as a side note. I just went on youtube to see comparisons between the two phones. and got immedietly sidetracked by those fucking kittens doing stuff again. I swear to god. heaven is a continuous internet connection with kittens doing stuff.
